I write this with reluctance. Not that I do not want to write it, but that, it has been in my heart for some months now. The Spirit of Christ telling me to write, and I kept procrastinating. Now, the Holy Spirit got me. (((Laughs))). Father God is amazing.

Okay, I was to share something with you. Alright, let’s get it done.

About three months ago, Father God put a word in my heart to share with the church. And it is this;

We have come to a time, where our unity (as the church) is more important than our personal preferences and opinions (including denominationally).

I could not really share it, for I was limited, having no platform to rant it from to the church. But I am very grateful to God. If a platform was needed, good will elevate one.

Now, the word put in my heart is very essential for these last times. I will say that, if the Church is to win the never-ending spiritual warfare it is engaged in, it must win in this aspect also. Our personal opinions and preferences must be surrendered at the feet of brethren.

Division sets in when our personal opinions and preferences are considered more important than that of others. More still, IT IS DANGEROUS TO PRESENT OUR OWN OPINIONS AND PREFERENCES AS WHAT SCRIPTURES SAY, OR INTEND. It is a work of the flesh.

We are not talking the opinions/truth of scriptures. Rather, we are dealing with our own personal preconceived ideas extracted from what the Word of God says.

For instance, in terms of food. Some prefer this, others like that. Some even say that they are vegetarians. Very well. Some even try to impose their preference of food, dressing, language, prayer style… knowingly or unknowingly on others. Be very careful.

For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. (Rom.14:17)

In reality, the most division in our family (the body of Christ) today is caused by the outward things. What I prefer, what you prefer, what my small group prefer and we pick up scriptures to back it up. Amazing flesh. This is the flesh in spiritual attire. It is the nice kind of flesh.

Our personal opinions about governments and politics, sport teams, ministers of the gospel, ministries must be tamed daily. Only speak truth as the Holy Spirit would speak it. Again, speak truth as the Holy Spirit would speak it.

Our Unity as a family (the body of Christ), is more important than any personal/denominational preferences and opinions.

We need to look away from ourselves and consider Jesus. We need to return back to His words. 90% of the Church today needs to thoroughly study the teachings of Jesus Christ personally by the help of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus is most times neglected in our lives. His words are not taken seriously. Check your life. How serious do you take and practice the words of Christ, the Lord of your life? Sunday worship is not enough to say, Lord, Lord.

There is a mouth that says Lord, Lord and there is a life that says Lord, Lord. And, both are different. The Lord hears one, but does not hear the other.

These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: (John.17:1)

People can hide the contents and true desires of their hearts in every way. They can discipline themselves not to speak out what troubles them the most and many other things as such.

However, there is a place I found out that people cannot hide their real desires. From Mohammedans, to Shintoists, to Zoroastrians, to Buddhist and even traditionalists; and of course, Christians. All of these cannot hide their true desires in that place.

It is the place of prayer.

The place of prayer is where all hidden and deep desires are revealed.

You can hide your desires from everyone, but when talking to your God, you want to open up everything. Especially, when the desire is pressing.

If I want to know your desires, I will listen to your prayers.

In the verse of scripture above, Our Dear Lord, Jesus was in prayer. As we move from verse 1 down, we find out the depth of His desire for the church, which He was to die for.

He saw all of us. He saw through the ages. He saw the persecutions, He saw the dark ages of Church history, He saw the revivals, He saw division and denominationalism, He saw deception creeping as the age was wrapping up, He saw hell opening her filthy mouth against His church.

But, none of these things troubled Him, except Our Unity. Our Oneness with God and Our fellow brethren in Him.

And so He prayed,

And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, THAT THEY MAY BE ONE, AS WE ARE. (John.17:11)

This is a deep expression of the heart of Jesus. A desire of God. That Our unity, should be as that of the Godhead.

I have given them thy word; AND THE WORLD HATH HATED THEM, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. (John.17:14)

Jesus knew that there’s no genuine brotherly love that could come from the world. They hate us because of the Word of God.

I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine… NEITHER PRAY I FOR THESE ALONE, BUT FOR THEM ALSO WHICH SHALL BELIEVE ON ME THROUGH THEIR WORD; (John.17:9,20)

The word He gave the Apostles, were the exact words the Father gave Him.

For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them… have believed that thou didst send me. (John.17:8)

The Father gave Jesus His word. Jesus gave the Disciples the word. That’s why scriptures say,

I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and WILL PUT MY WORDS IN HIS MOUTH; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.

And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto MY WORDS WHICH HE SHALL SPEAK IN MY NAME, I will require it of him. (Deut.18:18-19)

How about Hebrews,

GOD, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,

HATH IN THESE LAST DAYS SPOKEN UNTO US BY HIS SON, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; (Heb.1:1-2)

What are we saying? We are saying that the very words that Jesus spake, were the words of God Himself to us. These words, are what He gave to the Apostles. The Apostles in turn passed it successfully from generation to generation until now. And now, we today, possess the privilege of having the very word of God all around us and even in our phones.

Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; (John.17:20)

We in this present time, have believed in His word and His word is in us. Jesus went on praying;

THAT THEY ALL MAY BE ONE; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. (John.17:21)

And Our Lord kept on repeating this matter of oneness. Why is it important?

I in them, and thou in me, THAT THEY MAY BE MADE PERFECT IN ONE; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. (John.17:23)

1. Our unity is very crucial for our perfection. I realize that, new believers/old alike, grow faster and richly when there is cooperation/unity within a local assembly.

2. The world will acknowledge that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Our unity will give unbelievers a revelation that Our Lord, is Saviour.

3. The world will perceive God’s love for the Church and Jesus.

How many unbelievers have walked up to you or your local church and say, “God really loves you all”?

The desire of Jesus is, boundless connection across the body. Oneness of heart.

And this deep desire, He expressed in this prayer.

Be sincere. Is this desire of Jesus your desire? Until it becomes our desire, we have not really grasp what the width and length, and depth and height of the love of Christ is.

Danger Is Close

What is the danger? Hear the Lord,

Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.

And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. (Matt.24:9-10)

The verses above refers to the last days, which we are now. In above verses, the external pressure of hatred and persecution from the world, stirred up offence, betrayal and hatred amongst brethren in Churches all over the world. This reveals a strong division that will threaten the church. It’s prophecy, it will happen. But, if the greater majority of us will arm ourselves today, the impact of this satanic attack will be greatly reduced.

What will be the resultant effect of this offence, betrayal and hatred in our family (the body of Christ)?

And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. (Matt.24:11)

False prophets could only come in while brethren were eating up themselves. Less love, no unity and peace. Deception cametointreve. And deception has a friend called iniquity (lawlessness or disobedience).

And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. (Matt.24:12)

Because, iniquity (lawlessness) will abound (increase), the love many will wax cold. Iniquity or lawlessness implies that the law of love, which Our Saviour emphasized on will not be obeyed. It will be disregarded. Because, brethren want to say how they feel and think, rather than follow Spirit. The Holy Spirit will be subjected to human rights.

The American church has already begun to experience a glimpse of this. It’ll spread out from thence.

What do We do? I do not know all of what we should do now. But as you read, the Holy Spirit will put things in your heart. But, we all need to get back to the words of Our Only Saviour, even Jesus Christ, the Lover of our souls. Read Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts again and again and again. Some things to notice;

a). And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.(Acts.2:1).

Togetherness is key. By constant physical fellowship with ourselves. Not just with the brethren in your circle, reach out to others.

Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.

But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. (Heb.3:12-13)

b). Lay aside all filthiness of the flesh and spirit. Those personal opinions and personal preferences that invites division, anger and strife in your midst.

Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. (1Cor.1:10)

c). Know the teachings of Christ for yourself and teach others who are ignorant.

d). Remove rivalry from the pulpit.

e). Pray more for brethren outside your denominations, locality and nation.

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication FOR ALL SAINTS; (Eph.6:18). You are not the only new creature, pray for others.

f). If we all have the same Father, Same Spirit, let us all walk worthy of Him.

There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. (Eph.4:4-6)

I will leave you with the words of The Judge,

“Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:

And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. (Matt.7:24-27)

Grace be with your spirit, Amen.

In our last article, we started a check up of some of the root causes of dissatisfaction.

We said before that, when we have issues with our health we go to a qualified medical personnel. Because, we know that they are qualified to examine us and that they have the knowledge, experience and instruments to examine us and tell us what has gone out of order in our bodies.

When I was taking my driving course, I was taught that, before entering into the car to drive, walk around the car. Why? Because, I have to check the tyres, is anyone flat. I have to do a thorough check up to ensure that everything is in good shape and in order.

So, also, we need to check examine ourselves to know where our disatisfaction is coming from. The danger is that, dissatisfaction when not taken care of leads us farther apart from God, even though we might still retain the garment of religion.

So, examine yourself as I share some things you need to check for you to know where your own dissatisfaction is coming from.

4. Your Faith Walk

For the believer, faith is necessary for living.

…the just shall live by faith. ~ Hab.2:4

In reality, true expression of life is by faith. Where faith is absent, death is set in motion. Because, unbelief takes over.

For to be carnally minded is death… Romans 8:6

And you’ll find unrest and dissatisfaction in death. But, in life, you will find peace and divine fulfilment. And this is good for the heart of the believer.

When our faith walk is hampered by unbelief, overtime, we will find ourselves struggling within, dissatisfied and without clarity of mind and purpose. And there is also this knowing within us that we are not trusting in God. This knowing, steals our joy, because of the guilt it brings.

All of these culminates in a dissatisfaction in self. At this stage, prayer becomes difficult. You are praying and hearing yourself. It’s as though your prayers are hitting the walls and ricocheting at you.

You can’t even worship in church as before. You will hear messages, have a little peace and then, you fall back quickly into this sickness.

This is an height of unbelief. But it started small. Now, you are totally dissatisfied with your state.

The way of unbelief is hard.

What to do

a). Give up. I mean simply give up. In this state, many believers struggle and try to get themselves back in order. Struggling to get back is what keeps them longer in this state.

Simply give up, with the knowing that you cannot get yourself back to faith in God. You need God to draw you back.

Draw me, we will run after thee…(Song.1:4) Our pursuit of God is because He is in pursuit of us.

God has to draw you back. And you need to trust Him to do this. I have personally experienced this, that was when I was troubled about my future. And literally, I began to take some steps to arrange my future. That was when I fell into this gorge.

God frustrated my plan. Just as He will frustrate yours too. I came to a point where I was dissatisfied with everything including church services. It was as if I was doing religion. I was struggling to serve God. Have you ever been there? Haha…

This happened, until I had to just give up. The breakthrough came when I said to myself, “There’s nothing I can do to come out of this mess”, I just lifted up my hands and said, “I give up, God, help me, I can’t just help myself”.

The goal of this is that, God wants to show you that, He alone can produce faith in the heart of man. That no human effort can produce faith, but that, human effort can only ride on the faith that He has put in our hearts.

b). Respond to God’s drawing by giving Him full attention. You need a retreat.

Therefore, behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak comfortably unto her. (Hos.2:14)

Take a break, He is calling you away from the distractions of the world. He wants to speak comfortably to you.

c). In your retreat, take heavy bouts of God’s word, herein, God will speak to you. For faith comes by hearing and understanding the specific word (rhema) God is saying to you.

d). Reduce or radically cut off excessive use of the entertainment medium (newspapers, social media) and the likes. Because, you want to get yourself back again. Some of these things sometimes are like weeds or thorns, they press against faith in your heart. I’m not being fanatical, you know it’s true. Except you have not examined them in the light. Ask the Holy Spirit with a sincere heart.

e). Let your words be few. Save the spiritual energy that you have received from your retreat.

No matter how filled you are with the Holy Spirit, talkativeness will drain out that fullness.

f). Never be anxious about your state. Worry will augment it. Continuously commit yourself to God by trusting in Him. It takes time, depending on how deep your unbelief is.

Healing will set in with patience and full trust in Father God.

Grace be with your spirit, Amen.

silhouette-happy-little-child-greeting-450w-283541513A son honoureth his father, and a servant his master: if then I be a father, where is mine honour?…(Mal.1:6)

Father God loves it when we as sons and daughters without being told by anyone but by His Spirit alone willingly and deliberately come before His presence to lay down before Him and worship.

This honours Him greatly.

Giving Father God our time is worth more than anything in the world to Him.

This is one way to honour Father.

Your time, your time, your time.

Your time is your life, your time is your life.

Come sons, pour it at His feet. Come sons, hide away from this labourious world. Is this not how Jesus, Our Dear Lord, always run into the closet to meet Father God? For, Christ knew how to honour Father.

And He has left us an example that we should follow in His steps.

Therefore, Come. For a day is as a thousand years before Him, a moment with Him is as countless weeks of rest.

Come closer. Draw nigh to God. For this is the way to keep His presence. This is the way to keep the blessing outworking itself exceedingly. This is the way to fruitfulness. This is the way to answers. This is the way to less struggles. This is the way to eternal life.

Then, your peace shall be like a river.

Sons are confused because they do not Come. Sons do not know what steps to take because they do not Come. Sons are afflicted because they do not Come. Sons are powerless because they do not Come.

You just feel this uneasiness within you. Restless within, but without, you try to put up this ‘I’m okay‘ look.

You just know that there’s a desire in you that is not quite satisfied. There’s an inward longing. There’s a place where you ought to be but you are not there. And this has left you wondering or leaves you pondering, ‘what is happening to me?

For some this has made them to lost their bearing (spiritually), their sense of purpose, and even career goals making their workplace boring and uninteresting to them. They don’t even know what to choose. They do not even know the next step to take. And there’s this pressure all around.

Spiritual dissatisfaction is a state of spiritual deficiency (lack). You yourself know that you lack something or are in need of something.

It is the possession of every other thing except God Himself.

And this affects every other aspect of our lives. Some people even get angry easily when they are dissatisfied spiritually. Others just result to amusement on television and other forms of pleasure which actually worsen their state.

We cannot run away from our shadows.

So what do we do? Or what do I do? You may ask.

There needs to be a spiritual check up. When we have issues with our health we go to a qualified medical personnel. Because, we know that they are qualified to examine us and that they have the knowledge, experience and instruments to examine us and tell us what has gone out of order in our bodies.

May I say this, today, you are a spiritual ‘medical’ personnel. Listen to what Paul said,

…he that is spiritual examines all things… (1Cor.2:15)

You are spiritual because you have The Holy Spirit of God in you. So, examine yourself as I share some things you need to check for you to know where your own dissatisfaction is coming from.

1. Your perception about God.

There might have been some arguments against Him in your secret heart. This might be concerning some of the things that He has promised you that you are yet to see happen in your life. And so you have been asking why this? Why that? When?

And this attitude overtime unknowing to you has erected a feeling of dissatisfaction with the things of God, and this dissatisfaction has moved to other areas of your life without you noticing it.

Whoever is dissatisfied with God, however little that dissatisfaction is, will not be at ease in heart.

And when this dissatisfaction continues for a long time, it opens the door for suicidal thoughts. Even unbelievers experience this.

What should you do?

a). You have to repent (change the way you think) and revive your attitude of praise and thanksgiving to God for who He is and not for what He has to give you.

b). Know that Jesus never fails.

c). Remember what He has done for you in past years, and tell it to other believers. By so doing, you are declaring His faithfulness.

d). Remember that troubles don’t last always.

2. Check your expectations

This is like the first. Dissatisfaction sets in when our expectation about a thing or a person is not met. Maybe you are dissatisfied because your brethren in church failed to meet or recognise your need. Or because, what you expect of your pastor was cut short.

Kelly and Vanessa say respectively, “I should be married by now”, Mr. Greg says, “By this time, I am supposed to have own a car”.

For some, they are dissatisfied because their church does not have good musicians. Or the miracle you expect did not happen in that service. All these overtime lead to discouragement and dissatisfaction. Be very careful.

What to do.

a). Go to the scriptures, find those who experienced delay, and take comfort and be encouraged by their stories. We know some of those people already. Remember, the word of God is a dissolver, it will dissolve those feelings of dissatisfaction and give you peace unparalleled.

b). Find others in same situation, encourage them even when you don’t feel like. For iron sharpens iron. This will subside those feelings of dissatisfaction.

c). God wants you to realize that He is your provider, not brethren in church. Brethren are just instruments. God can even use a raven bird to provide that need. So, don’t be myoscopic, thinking that brethren are Jehovah Jireh. This will cause a radical change in your life. Pray to God, telling Him to forgive you because you have previously failed to see Him as Jehovah Jireh.

d). It is more blessed to give than to receive. Ask the Lord to make you an instrument for building up others in His house.

3. Check, your ambitions

Yes, if your ambitions are bent towards you, your career and family, leaving the advancement of Christ Kingdom aside, you will experience spiritual dissatisfaction overtime. Do you pursue the cause of Christ in your workplace, school, business and the likes.

Most of us get dissatisfied with ourselves and lives because we have dammed the rivers of Living Water from flowing. And we don’t get to realise it.

The gospel does not flow out from your mouth. In your discussions with your colleagues, siblings, classmates, you do not wisely chip in Christ. You are afraid of what they’ll think of you.

No matter how successful you have become in Academic work, Fashion world, Banking industry, Financially, Materially, Politically, in your business, you will still never be satisfied until you introduce Jesus wisely to those around you.

Success is never an exchange for spiritual satisfaction. Spiritual satisfaction is a fruit of living our lives as God intends.

We will continue in the next article, other things you need to check.

Grace be with your spirit, Amen.
